First Aid Training Course
No matter where they are or what they’re doing, children can be magnets for accidents and injury. These mishaps can be big or small, but they are always unexpected and uncontrolled. For parents and caregivers, nothing is more important than being prepared. That is why SPRING is offering a 3 hour CPR and First Aid training course that teaches participants how to provide emergency care for injured or ill children (ages one to twelve) and infants less than one year old.
You will learn about the types of medical emergencies that children face, and how they differ from adult conditions. Other topics of significance include the importance of attending to basic emergency situations with children, the emotional aspects of caring for children, and preventing common injuries and illnesses in children.
During the course you will learn the following:
- Primary assessment – initial actions at an emergency
- CPR
- Choking
- Serious bleeding management & shock management
- Spinal injury management
- Bandaging & splinting for dislocations and fractures
- Injury assessment
The instructor is Charles McConnellogue who has received training in First Aid from the Royal Air Force and has over 30 years experience. Charles is a certified instructor for both the Emergency Care & Safety Institute and Emergency First Response.
